MPM CHIPS

Packaging Design

MPM (Marché Public de Montréal) represents Montréal’s public markets, promoting local producers and community-driven commerce. This project involved developing a packaging system for a new artisanal potato chip line intended to be sold across its market locations.

The objective of this project was to create a contemporary packaging direction capable of elevating an everyday snack product within a specialty market environment. The system was designed to balance clarity, simplicity, and visual impact across the full product line.

PACKAGING ANALYSIS

The process began by studying contemporary snack packaging across both grocery and specialty food markets. Rather than relying heavily on photography and crowded layouts, the direction explored a more minimal system centered around simplified flavour indicators and clear top-view identification to make product selection more immediate and intuitive.

The cylindrical structure created a more distinctive retail presence while giving the layouts greater vertical movement and visibility when displayed within market environments.

TYPOGRAPHY & VISUAL IMPACT

The art direction places the product within more casual and everyday settings, allowing the packaging to feel less conventional and more integrated into contemporary food culture. Saturated backgrounds, strong contrast, and large-scale type help create a more graphic and attention-driven visual approach.

The tagline “Simple. Savoureux. D’ici.” reflects the straightforward and locally focused nature of the product. Combined with the informational layout on the reverse side of the packaging, the design maintains the same graphic approach while allowing practical content to remain clear and visually balanced.
